The strength function’s frequency depends on the temperature. As temperature increases, there is a very pronounced shift of strength from higher to lower frequencies. All strength is concentrated in one mode at very low frequency after the transition region between 1.5 MeV and 2 MeV. Generally, the temperature dependence of 1/k as the decisive ingredient.

The concentration of strength in one low frequency mode at high temperature implies that the energy weighted sum rule is exhausted and the irritational flow value for the inertia therefore is reached. A relation to the liquid drop model is then established also for dynamical properties due to the fact that the transition clearly determined by the disappearance of shell effects which is the usual signal of convergence towards and average macroscopic behaviour. Our observation also implies that no collective isoscalar motion at high frequencies exists above 2 MeV. However, for collective modes that lie above the intrinsic spectrum, they may behave differently.
